Jang WooSeok an industrial designer, from Korea, designed a plastic coffee lid for takeaway cups named: Take Kiss. The coffee lid resembles a human nose and mouth. Jang believes the lids will make the drinker stand out among their fellow coffee lovers. To him, the cup is a fun, yet functional design, a symbol of urban culture and fashion!

Currently in its prototype form, Jang hopes a major coffee chain will adopt his lip-smacking design. What do you think? Would you use one for your coffee? Image Source: Screenshot/Jang WooSeok /2015.

87-year-old Liang Xiuzhen from Ziyang City, in south-west China’s Sichuan Province, has a 13cm-long horn growing from her forehead. The elderly woman started growing something that resembled a “black mole” on her head around eight years ago, according to her son Wang Chaojun.

The mole gave way to a small horn-like mass the size of a little finger. Xiuzhen accidentally “broke” the small horn and in its place her current horn began to grow over the past six months. The unusual growth has stunned doctors, but it was soon identified as “cornu cutaneum” (cutaneous horn), a keratinous skin tumor that has the appearance of a horn.

Doctors believe they can remove the growth through surgery, although the family has its reservations due to Xiuzhen’s old age. Image Source: Screenshot/CEN/2015

Stephanie Ritter, a frustrated 2011 graduate of Florida State University’s School of Theatre, is selling her diploma and “college experience” for $50,000 on eBay. Why? Ritter, who attended the university from 2007-2011, is looking to get rid of her massive student debt. After attending university for 5 years her loan debt increased to $40,000!

Ritter explained that she’s been underemployed since graduation and that she is currently “doing the exact same things (jobs) and probably getting paid the exact same amount as people who dropped out halfway through freshman year”.

The only difference being that she is still $40,000 in debt and the other people she is working with aren’t in debt! Besides offering the diploma, Ritter offers a tour of FSU (Florida State University), a home football or baseball game and even access to her college Facebook albums.
If you are interested, the offer is still on till the Sept. 23, click here for more info. Image Source: Screenshot/eBay/2015

I remember a time when very few of us had laptops. When I went to university we had to go to the library to get internet access. Most of the time it was overcrowded and you had to wait your turn in a massive queue. Back then Yahoo and Lycos were massive and Google wasn’t even born. Slowly laptops became mainstream and affordable, and you would see more and more of them on campus. Every time new freshers came in, you would see them with their brand new, spanking laptop that usually had a battery life of about 20 minutes, if even that.

Once laptops became mainstream you would see some privileged students with a Macbook Pro and you would quickly realise that you would probably never even be able to afford one. Once the time of the so called “Netbook” arrived, every Tom, Dick and Harry had one and it quickly wasn’t that special anymore.

Today it is unimaginable for young people to go to university without a laptop. Times have changed drastically and so have the prices for laptops. While laptops in the past would have cost you an arm and a leg, they now cost very little and are very affordable – even for those students with a drained bank account. Back in the day we would mainly use our laptops for work e.g. for when you write your course work in Microsoft Word and maybe listen to a bit of music. Today this aspect has changed. Laptops have become our life! We use our laptops for nearly everything from banking, to shopping, as a home entertainment studio, as a TV, and even for communication with your parents and much more. It would be much easier to list the things for which we do not use laptops than for those things that we actually do. How far have we come? It would be safe to say that today the majority of students own a laptop, be it a PC or a Mac.

Ilana Kolihnov, 21, a make-up artist from Tel Aviv, Israel, transforms herself into a Siberian husky in a fascinating, but slightly bizarre, video posted online. I would say it is the stuff of nightmares! Ilana uses a white pencil and textured paintbrush to sketch out the basic outline of her dog on her face.

The video runs for a total of seven-minutes and it is unclear how long the painstaking process took the artist to complete in real time. The video has since gone viral with users commenting either because they are impressed or terrified. What do you think? Image Source: Screenshot/Youtube/2015
