Christian LeBlanc, a 22-year-old business major at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, was feeding bananas to elephants while travelling in Thailand. Canadian inventor Catalin Alexandru Duru built the world’s first true hoverboard. According to Duru the propeller-powered board can be used over any surface, although he usually tests it over the water, due to security reasons.
Duru earned himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records after gliding 275.9m (905ft 2in), or the length of two football fields, across the surface of Lake Ouareau in Quebec. Watch the video below, and let us know your thoughts. Is this the future? Image Source: Screenshot/Youtube/2015
Duck lanes are a new temporary initiative to encourage people to be mindful of the animals they share the road with. Duck lanes have been introduced in Birmingham, Manchester and recently in London. The Canal & River Trust has painted a white line marking off areas to be used by birds with a stenciled silhouette of a duck.
The Canal River Trust is responsible for maintaining over 2000 miles (3220km) of inland waterways in England and Wales. So if you are in and around those areas mind those little fellows

This is Dennis the Dachshund and as you can see he is way too fat! He is from Columbus, Ohio and currently weighs 56 pounds. That is about 5 times as much as a normal Dachshund. He was neglected by his owner and was on a diet consisting of mainly fast food.
He could barely walk without having to stop and catch his breath. Eventually his owner gave up on him and he was given to an animal shelter. Luckily for Dennis, a new owner took him in and she put him on a healthy diet, and began playing with him daily to help him shed the weight.
As a result Dennis eventually had to have surgery to take care of all of his excess skin. Today Dennis is at a healthy 12 pounds! Image Source: Screenshot/facebook/2015
I am not familiar with bears, but the sight of such a massive creature must make your blood freeze. There are many ways, of which most are lies, of how to react when you run into a bear. Some say you need to lie down and curl up into a helpless little ball of nothing or just run as fast as you can. This man, in Sweden, did something totally different.
He successfully scared off a charging bear by shouting at it and spreading his arms, to appear much bigger. I have never seen anything alike. Nevertheless, it probably saved the couple’s life. This video footage was captured by the man’s wife. Image Source: Screenshot/Youtube/2015.
A loggerhead turtle which was injured after a collision with a boat, has received a new 3D printed beak. The turtle named Akut-3 weighs around 45kg and was brought to the Sea Turtle Research
Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Dalyan, Turkey. It was here where the Turtle was nursed back to health and staff quickly realised that her injured jaw needed to be rebuilt. The help center contacted the Turkish company BTech Innovation, which usually only makes customized medical prosthetics and implants for humans, for help.
Eager to help the injured reptile the company took on the challenge and produced a brand new metal jaw for the turtle. If the body does not reject the prosthetic, it will soon be returned to the sea. Image Source: Screenshot/Youtube/2015
