Coffee shop in London ordered to remove its ‘offensive’ name sign

A coffee shop in Bermondsey, south London, has been told by lawyers to take down the sign bearing their “offensive” name. The sign has been up for more than a year, and nobody seems to have noticed it back then. Originally the cafe was named “Bermondsey Street Coffee”, before being re-branded and named “Fuckoffee”.

The letter came from the lawyers of the owners of the building, setting the shop a deadline till the Oct. 27 at 4pm. Previously the building owners had received complaints by a few people who had complained about the cafe’s name, and contacted the police. What should they do? Just a little humor or did they take it too far? The coffee shop is part of the Brick Lane Coffee group of three shops around London. Image Source: Screenshot/ Fuckoffee/2015
